Face Swap for Journalists

When newsroom policy says biometric data cannot go to a third-party AI cloud — process face swaps on your own machine.

OfflineFaceSwap is a privacy-first desktop app for Mac and Windows. Journalists and producers can create illustrative face-swap videos from a curated licensed library while keeping face photos and outputs on-device. Your face never leaves your computer.

For Newsrooms

Why cloud face swap is a bad fit for journalism

Uploading a reporter’s face — or any biometric likeness — to a consumer AI service creates retention, training, and vendor-risk questions most newsrooms cannot answer cleanly. Even “delete after processing” policies are hard to audit.

OfflineFaceSwap separates library delivery from biometric processing: you download a licensed template, then the swap runs locally. That keeps the sensitive step inside your workstation, not on a public cloud GPU.

On-device biometric step

Face photos and finished outputs stay on your Mac or PC. No cloud upload of face data for the swap itself.

Licensed templates

Work from a curated library built for legal use in-app — clearer than pulling random stock clips into an unlicensed toolchain.

Custom requests

Need a specific scene for an explainer? Request it through the app. Approved templates appear in “Made for You.”

No seat subscription

Pay once per video template instead of another recurring AI seat for occasional editorial use.

Fit & Limits

What this is — and is not

Good fit: privacy-conscious explainer or illustrative videos where a journalist or host appears in a licensed scene, processed locally under newsroom data rules.

Not supported: uploading raw interview footage or arbitrary target videos to anonymize sources. OfflineFaceSwap does not accept user-uploaded target videos — only the curated library and approved custom requests.

If your workflow requires processing proprietary interview files, that is outside the current product model. If your workflow requires keeping biometric processing off third-party clouds while using cleared templates, OfflineFaceSwap is built for that.

FAQ

Journalist FAQ

No. OfflineFaceSwap does not accept user-uploaded target videos. It uses a curated licensed library (plus approved custom requests). That constraint is intentional for legal and product-safety reasons.

No. After you download a template, the face swap runs on your device. Your face photo and output video do not leave your computer.

Yes. Submit a custom video request in the app. If approved and prepared, it appears in your “Made for You” section for purchase and local use.

Because biometric processing stays on-device, you avoid sending face data to a third-party processor for the swap step. You still need to follow your own newsroom policies for how outputs are published and stored.
